Ben and Jerry’s are one of my favourite companies ever, so I thought I would write a little about some of the events they regularly hold in London annually. What’s not to like about ice cream, smoothies and all the chocolaty goodness of their sugary offerings.
First up is the Sundae Festival which is being held on Saturday and Sunday the 25th and 26th of July this year and is usually held around mid Summer each year. The Sundae festival is basically two days of music and ice creams and fingers crossed, good weather for chilling out in Clapham Common.
This years band include I am Kloot, Super Furry Animals and Teenage Fanclub. The Sundae festival also includes some traditional fairground attractions including a helter skelter, a coconut shy, a petting zoo and a load of competitions including guess the weight of the cake and biscuit decorating!
There is also plenty of free ice cream at the festival and a fully licensed bar for some cider drinking in the sunshine….
Next up is a genius marketing ploy called free cone day which is held around April of each year and has been running for a long time now and was first thought up in 1978. Basically this one is exactly what it sounds like, you head down to a participating Ben and Jerry’s shop and grab a free cone of one of their madly tasty flavours!
Loads of shops partake in free cone day in London and it’s pretty good fun to head down to Leicester Square and pick up a free cone on your lunch hour!
There are all of the favourite flavours on offer including the usual suspects of Phish Food, Cherry Garcia, Half Baked and Cookie Dough. Although you can grab a cone for free the event is designed to highlight good causes of various charities and donations are accepted for chosen charities each year.
You can find out more about the events Ben and Jerry run and generally more info and the fun company on their website….
